God’s Word (The Bible) tells us that we are all separated from God because of our disobedience (premarital sex, lying, stealing, cheating, jealously, breaking the law, etc.). We are all guilty at some point of breaking one of God’s laws. I know I have broken God’s laws many times.
The Bible says, “For all have sinned [broken God’s law] and fallen short of God’s glory. (Romans 3:23)
In other words, none of us are perfect. And the only way we can go to heaven is to have our sins forgiven…
Salvation is God’s plan to rescue mankind from eternal separation from Him. The word salvation comes from the Greek word soteria, which means saved, healed, delivered, pardoned, rescued, protected, preserved, made whole, cured, set free, and restored. We all need salvation or to be rescued in order to go to heaven. John 3: 16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”
Growing up I never understood what salvation meant. I thought it was something reserved for the high and mighty.
However God wants to rescue you from the wrath to come.
Here are the steps to being saved or rescued:
1. Repent- The word repent simply means to change your direction. In other words, if you were a liar you stop being a liar when you repent. If you were living a promiscuous and partying lifestyle, when you repent you commit yourself to living a holy life. The power to live a holy life comes when you commit your life and heart to Jesus Christ! Jesus died on the cross in order to save us.
2. Renounce- Renouncing means you reject your old ways and philosophies for God’s ways. This is about completely handing your life over to Christ and committing to doing things His way.
3. Receive-Salvation or rescue from hell is a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us that being saved is God’s gift to us…accepting that gift is our gift to Him. When you receive Christ here’s what you’re saying…
“I want to give my whole life to you, God.”
“I want to become a Christ follower.”
Pray this prayer, mean it, and YOU will be saved, right where you are sitting. If you feel that you’re ready for this important commitment, pray this prayer out loud:
Father in heaven, thank you for sending your Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for my sins and disobedience. I am wrong. I am turning away from my sins to follow You Jesus. Come into my heart and forgive me of all my sins. Thanks for dying on the cross for me. Thanks for rising on the third day to give me eternal life. I am a child of God now. I’m yours forever. AMEN.
CONGRATULATIONS!

Remember, our feelings have nothing to do with salvation. You may feel high as a kite or very normal, it doesn’t matter. The most important thing is God’s Word, not our feelings.
